History of the School
The villagers of Moddhya Bhaterchar upon deciding to establish a high school within their village was in search of donation of required land to establish the school and approached to Dr.Abdul Gaffar Khan MB (cal) of Baluakandi village with the desire to which Dr.Abdul Gaffar Khan MB (Cal) positively responded and donated 0.70 decimal of his ownership land in SA Plot no 1096 of Bhaterchar mouza, beside the 'Fuldi' river where the villagers upon getting cash donation from different persons erected the Semi-Pucca school building and established the 'Bhaterchar High School' in such name, where the academic activity of the school commenced. That was the starting of the School.

In the year 1974 the Brother-in-law of Dr.Abdul Gaffar khan Brigadier (Retd.) AKM Shamsul Islam became the Director General of Primary Education,Govt.of Bangladesh and by taking this opportunity, Dr. Abdul Gaffar khan managed to obtain a sanction of Tk. 8,000,00.00(Eight lacs) from the Facilities Department of the Education Ministry of the Govt. of Bangladesh to erect a Pucca Building for the School on his donated land and also managed to up-grade the School as 'Pilot School', by managing to relax the govt.rule as to non-allowance of two 'Pilot School' in one Thana, 'Gazaria High School being the existing Pilot School within the Thana area.That erected building by the Facilities Department was the beautiful Building among the then Schools of Gazaria.But unfortunately by the vigorous erosion of river Fuldi in the year 1982, the entire School building was collapsed, destroyed and washed away.The then managing committee of the School was totally in-active in protecting the building in any manner.In front of their eyes the 120 feet long School Building vanished in the river.
Later Mr.Dewan Abdul Mannan of Bhaterchar came forward and donated land beside the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway where new building of the School was constructed with the cash donation as made by Mr.Dewan Abdul Mannan on condition that the School will be named on his name.Thus'Bhaterchar High School turned into 'Bhaterchar Dewan A.Mannan High School' and came into being and now running as one of the standard School of Gazaria Upazila.
